sweater weather

[easyrotator]erc_87_1364755440[/easyrotator]

Quick post: when it’s cooler than expected it’s always nice to have a great sweater to wrap up in. Even better when it’s reversible and not sized, that way it can be passed around. Twelve year old daughter wore this piece over her dress this morning for church services, cream side out, she looked great and warm.

Husband wearing one of his favorites in a great color, by Loro Piana. Easter weekend is a good time to keep the color palette fresh.

Wishing everyone a joyous Sunday. Sending love to all, xoxo.

one more time

[easyrotator]erc_89_1364647760[/easyrotator]

Might as well go big or go home: here’s that black cardigan with Wolford tank underneath and pink AG jeans, as worn first night on vacation in Savannah GA. Reason for the post again about this wardrobe staple?

When helping women clients build great wardrobes over time, outfitting four fashion conscious daughters, and dressing myself for work, travel, play, if there’s a piece that makes life easier and getting dressed faster, let everyone know about it.

And, when you can machine wash it on cold, lay it flat to dry and it keeps on looking and feeling great, that’s investment dressing.

Ethel, you need this one, Laurie, I think you would love it too, and Melissa, you would wear this all the time.

third time’s a charm

[easyrotator]erc_27_1364611669[/easyrotator]

Still cold, third night in a row, dress as coat, no shame. Daughters ask, what are you wearing? No worries, I’ve got this little black dress packed. Add it to the floral jeans from last season, again, no shame, that black cardigan, and, done, dressed for dinner again.

Every day dress does total outfit repeat, make sure your clothes are there for you, and third time’s a charm. Not afraid to wear the same stuff many days in a row. Jennifer Steinkamp, you are my hero. Thinking every woman out there needs that black cardigan and dress as coat.

Don’t forget the blog party, Thursday, April 11th, 5 – 7 pm, Perfetto, 617 Washington Street, downtown Buffalo NY. Email us here if you like to celebrate, can’t wait to see you.

Three nights in a row, dress as coat, Worth New York Spring 2013

dress as coat

[easyrotator]erc_45_1364525882[/easyrotator]

When traveling, every single piece needs to be able to do double duty. Case in point: dress, in colder than expected temperatures, worn as coat, two nights in a row.

Thought I could leave the biker boots at home when visiting Savannah GA and Hilton Head SC in late March. Not so. Missing those things desperately.

Instead, had to rely on layer upon layer. Not so bad, as each piece that was packed can perform in multiple ways. White jeans? Twelve month staple. Black Donna Karan Collection long sleeve silk tee? Bought that thing eight years ago and it’s still going strong. Coat as dress? New piece from Worth New York Spring 2013. Totally earning its respect in the wardrobe: wore it last night out to dinner with that black cardigan and pink jeans, it was Savannah, tonight with Donna Karan tee and white jeans. Falling in love. Can’t wait to wear it as planned, as a dress, need about 2o more degrees though.

Layer your clothes, use a dress as coat, have fun, cold temperatures or not.

Every day dress out to dinner two nights in a row with dress worn as coat. Stay warm. xoxo

all photos, iPhone, not organized enough yet for the real camera, still on the run.

breaking the rules

image

Never thought it would come to this: wearing sneakers while flying. Oldest daughter is probably horrified, husband is actually loving it. Maybe sixty really is the new twelve.

Every day dress has been traveling like crazy, for business and pleasure. NYC, Boston MA, home in Buffalo NY for 36 hours and now Savannah GA, Hilton Head SC, and Naples FL, so sneakers it is, breaking the rules.

Have come to realize that there aren’t really any rules, fashion wise, anyways. Tossed on a black and white dotted scarf with a navy and white striped sweater. Rag & Bone jeans are way too tight, all that muscle haha, good thing the orange crush anorak covers the rear view.

Every day dress on the fly breaking the rules.

Have a great Wednesday.

underneath it all

[easyrotator]erc_0_1364342222[/easyrotator]

Beautiful clothing calls for beautiful, and sometimes fun, little nothings underneath it all.

Whether you wear professional suiting or skinny jeans and knitwear, taking a risk underneath it all helps to keep things fun and can either take the edge off or add to all that black.

Thinking of jazzing up your lingerie wardrobe? Shopping for luxurious designer lingerie doesn’t require you to be super skinny, which is always a good thing. A few curves here and there simply enhance the experience.

Feeling unsure? Ask for some help, those of us that like to help women with their wardrobes like to share our resources and help you get it right in many ways. Visit Nicole at Agent Provocateur in Boston MA, 123 Newbury Street. She can help you with the whole thing. Thanks Nicole.

loves his girl(s)

[easyrotator]erc_41_1364135605[/easyrotator]

One, two, three, or four, spending time with your daughter(s) is time well spent. Husband here has gotten these two through so much in the last five years by making multiple road and air trips, and week plus long stays in both RI and MA. He loves his girl(s). Now they are through some of the rough spots and settled in for a bit in Boston, life is ever-changing.

Everyone knows really great things take a ton of time, all your money :), steps forward, steps back, and then, if you keep with it, good things happen.

So great to visit you both. Keep on learning, growing, loving.

Daddy loves his girl(s).

have a great night

let's celebrate

Amazing what you can do these days, especially when you begin to build a team: thanks Wendy.

Been talking about jumping in here and Wendy jumped. She came over while I was busy with my fashion and recruiting work and put this great invite together using a photo saved to external hard drive, which son had to do as we had thousands and they were slowing us way down. Two more team members, thank you.

Another amazing aspect of modern life- invite was created and ordered all online, blog post is going up by receiving jpg image from Wendy to my email address and then uploaded to WordPress on the iPad while husband drives us to Boston MA to visit two oldest daughters.  Love learning new things and it’s much more fun with others around.

Have a great night everyone. Make some dinner, light the candles, enjoy a glass of wine, spend time with those you love.

keeping it easy

[easyrotator]erc_42_1363905124[/easyrotator]

Hands down, dinner is so often a favorite part of the day. Here is what was put out last night, keeping it easy:

Fresh wild cod, asparagus, tomatoes and olives all prepped on jelly roll pans and seasoned with olive oil, kosher salt, and ground pepper. Arugula in a bowl with shaved parmesan, again dressed with olive oil and a little lemon. Two loaves fresh bread, great for buttered toast afterwards, and black rice simmered with vegetable broth on the stove top.

Throw three pans in the oven and roast away at about 375 or 400 degrees, no recipe or cookbook needed. Open a bottle of great white, food is good, husband happy, that’s huge, and we’re keeping it easy.

Used to individually plate all food for a nice presentation. Took hours. While in Jamaica several years ago the household staff set the table beautifully and served us our meals buffet style. Simple and brilliant. Totally copied that method. It works.

Happy Thursday everyone.

we’re having a party

[easyrotator]erc_14_1363835145[/easyrotator]

Alright, you forty-seven blog subscribers: mark your calendar if you like for Thursday, April 11th, 5 – 7 pm, downtown Buffalo NY, Perfetto, 617 Main Street, we’re having a party.

White wine, champagne, bite sized hors d’oeuvres and miniature cupcakes baked by yours truly will be passed to celebrate the one year anniversary of this here little blog, every day dress. Handsome DJ son will be on hand as well. First post was put up April 10th of last year, as he has class that night the celebration can wait a day. Education first, so Thursday, April 11th. Thursday is a better night out anyways.

Met today with restaurateur Antonio and his chef Adam. Dressed in you guessed it, black, of course, thinking we might need to rename this site every day black. Only kidding. Color will come out again when it stops snowing. 🙂

Would love to have you. If you check in here and read at all, you’re invited too. Simply reply to me here below and let me know you like to celebrate.  You’ll be included in the head count for the wait staff. Do not want to run out of the chardonnay.

Life is busy, life is good, every day dress, we’re having a party, please come.

ps. We look a little casual here on a snow day in March. Friend and colleague Mary asked, ‘well, what do you wear to a blog party?’ This girl here, will be wearing a dress…

xoxo
