mood

New clothing can be mood lifting and transformative; think I’ve been thinking this since the second grade.

Still believe and love the power of dress. Tomorrow starts our trunk show, to get the groove on ordered five new things yesterday, overnight shipping, why not. UPS, they deliver. Hit the submit button a little before noon and next morning boom, the box is at the front door.

Finding that less can be more and that choosing things thoughtfully, for clients, daughters, myself, creates more long-term style. The base here is black Wolford body-suit, have had that thing forever, black leather jeans, black boots. The body-suit and the leather jeans both go in the wash.

Picked two shirts, one denim, naturally, and a poppy suede. One tweed jacket, a pair of white slouchy pants, and a navy dress with a striped sheer overlay. I’ll separate those two, wear the dress as a stand-a-lone, add the denim or suede shirt or maybe even the tweed, and I’ll mix up the sheer striped overlay with a tank and blue jeans. Wardrobe upgrade, done.

We’ll be at the PLAZA SUITES through next week Thursday. New clothes for your every mood.

on stripes and more

We’ve been in a bit of a funk lately, sister in northern CA tells me this happens every February. Not sure what to wear, not sure what to do, so we simply buckle in and stick to the basics.

Spring always feels good in stripes, especially navy and white, so we wore that last week down south. The black shirt on the striped bed? That thing is a necessity, wear it on the plane, throw it on the floor, wear it again, sleep in it, wear it over a bikini, wear it again back on the plane. Machine wash, dry, repeat. Thinking all women need this.

We start our spring trunk show Friday, lots of good striped things. Photos still with the iPhone, not quite organized. Really only good pic is the lunch photo for one:

IMG_6281IMG_6283IMG_6284I used to bake, and now that no-one is eating that stuff anymore, it seems we’re down to doing a lot of chicken and eggs. Threw in a great lamb stew with butter is love old-fashioned egg noodles last night; simmered all day and no photo, it was Sunday night. 🙂

Here’s a few shots from what’s been going on culinary wise, all with the iPhone. Ordered and paid for a new key for the locked car with the camera inside and then found the key on my second desk, duh.

Food is a big deal in our house, always buy and cook the best we can. Silver needs polishing, oh well.

Every day dress, chicken and eggs, and as many vegetables as we can get.

home, alone

Fourth child, second daughter, home, not really alone, she’s got our two dogs to let in and out, with endless snow coming down. Big place for one person. Takes her 500+ steps just to get a cup of coffee. Thanks Booie, for holding down the fort.

Fifth child, third daughter, we’re down here at the condo, where you can clean the thing without even once unplugging the vacuum cleaner, love that. What was supposed to be a quick in and out escape has turned into a full week. Sixth child, fourth daughter, she’s in Budapest. Oldest daughter, back in NYC.

Snowed in, in FL. Home is wherever you make it. Flying out later today.

Photo taken with the iPhone on the nightstand. Only packed a few simple accessories, and again, only a carry-on.

Cute little kids kissing? That’s the valentine, from me to him.

I needed ya.

I got ya.

I’m keeping ya.

Love ya.

Happy Thursday everyone. Back in the office tomorrow, full tilt, we’ve got spring coming. Trunk Show starts Friday, February 26th. xoxo

We think fresh flowers, fancy lingerie, dark pedicures, blue jeans and white shirts are every day basics.

Happy Valentine’s Day all, let’s find beauty in the simple.

Basics, every day.

All photos lately with the iPhone, locked my camera in my car and can’t find my keys. Basics, right?

roll with it

Husband dropped fifteen year old sixth child at school this morning where she hopped a bus to Toronto Canada to then travel to Prague, Budapest, and Vienna. Husband and I, with fifth child, flew late this afternoon to Tampa FL. Sixth child was texting her sister, said fifth child that was with us, that one student dropped out and it was her ticket that was inadvertently cancelled, wow. So, her 46 classmates departed, and she and her chemistry teacher were left to book another airline, cool. She kept her chill on, and texted that she hoped that Air Canada would have a burger, fries, and a shake, haha.

We all put our phones on airplane mode once on Southwest, and put our faith in all good things. She’s flying through the night to countries I would be hard pressed to pinpoint on a map, and we’re here in a small town cooking steaks and tossing green things.

Peanut, so proud of you, breathe it all in. Travel opens your mind and soul. Bumps in your itinerary will help you figure out the undoubted upcoming bumps in life. Way to roll with it. Love you to the moon and Prague and everywhere in between and back. Really hope you got that burger. xoxo

Every day dress, always gotta roll with it.

uniform dressing

IMG_4743IMG_6112

When you’re in the middle of your work/family/runaround routine, uniform dressing fits the bill. Quick photos that went back and forth, oldest daughter in NYC wearing the ubiquitous all black, me here in BUF doing the same.

We’re in the mid-February hum for sure.

Happy Tuesday. Every day dress, all about the column of non-color right about now.

fast food for five

We were dressed proper all day long for school run drop-off, conference calls, desk work, a colleague meeting, school run pick-up and a board meeting. Six-thirty bam and everyone’s kind of wondering what’s for dinner.

Bring it on, fast food for five: five grass-fed rib-eyes, three heads of romaine, a bunch of green beans. Had a loaf of fresh bread with salted butter on stand-by, no carb takers. Add a dog or two behind the sink, rips and second son’s white linen shirt, dinner served.

Make it easy, pick up some steaks and a bunch of green stuff, fast food for five or whatever. First thing in the morning put your hair up in top-knot and bake-off some banana bread. Kitchen time is soulful.

get it done

IMG_6083

Some days are just about getting it done. Today, one of those days.

Going to the gym: you’ve just gotta do it, makes you feel good. Funny thing, once you’re done, it’s all about going again.

Every day dress, let’s all get it done, again and again.

make it a triple

IMG_6062 IMG_6063 IMG_6064 IMG_6068 IMG_6070 IMG_6071 IMG_6073 IMG_6077For sure, the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the company we keep help to elevate the ordinary. How cool is it to cook for those you love most days and nights?

Thank you dear yesterday’s reader, for commenting you missed the food posts, this one’s for you. It’s not fancy, simply what we put out last night. Pan sautéed zucchini, not totally in season yet we love it anyway, and made it a triple pan party to cook it up fast. Red quinoa, that super grain of the Andes, cooked up with some organic vegetable broth, delicious. Added some fish for more protein, cod for the husband and salmon for the women. Oh, and the tomatoes, with the fresh basil from the new kitchen garden! The whole shebang made a great lunch today, too, with some toast and smashed avocado. No photo of that, we were working. (!). Simple white tulips, and white votives. Stovetop is a little messy, that’s how it goes.

Professionally, we’re working on adding to the team. If you are someone you know wants to work their days with beautiful clothing and beautiful women, comment here on the blog post and we’ll ring you. We’d love to make it a triple, and you know who I’m talking too. Teams are a winning combination.

Every day dress, make it a triple.
