Cocktail Meeting for Twenty

I prepared a simple buffet of beef tenderloin sliders, crudité with a green goddess dip, jam thumbprints and noel nut balls. I kept it casual with no linen on the table and paper napkins picked up at the grocery.
Our nephew Gavin poured the wine, and you can see handsome Bill. I put all the glassware on the server on the back wall so it was all ready to go. The silver bucket was a Christmas gift from Booie several years ago, it gets good use.

Last night we hosted a quick holiday cocktail gathering as a gala committee kick-off meeting in support of the Burchfield Penney Art Center. Our ‘family’, Bill, me, Ethan, Lindsey, Maxwell, Lexi, and Sarah, is chairing the upcoming event on Saturday, June 8th, 2024.

I’m quietly dipping my toe back into volunteering time and treasury for not-for-profits after a too long break.

It’s fun having our kids in the loop; blending age and experience with youth and new ideas.

I bought two pieces of beef from two different markets, doing a little taste test before Christmas Day Dinner. The one on the left I hand-trimmed and tied, the one on the right the butcher hand-tirmmed and tied. Ethan preferred the one on the right, so now I know where to shop in the next few weeks. For roasting I set the oven to 500 degrees, brush the meat with melted butter and liberally salt and pepper it, and roast for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and cover in foil. Let cool, and slice thin for sliders.
Ready to serve. I wore a Wolford black bodysuit, a Lafayette 148 chartreuse leather skirt, Chanel flats, all pieces in my closet collected over the years. I spy Mazi in the bottom right corner.
The end of the night.
The morning after and the new island, yippee!

Anyway, I spent yesterday roasting a couple of tenderloins, blanching green beans and broccoli, making crudité, a green goddess dip, and baking two batches of Christmas cookies. My husband brought in a case of wine, and bingo, we had a fun time meeting new humans. I’m in my element opening our home and serving food, and we finally have a kitchen counter and a working faucet, so why the heck not. Sharing good cheer is a good thing anytime of year.

Every day dress and a cocktail meeting for twenty.
