Undoubtedly one of the hottest weeks of the year and we’ve been back at work playing with way cool fall clothes.
Black leather biker cape? Total score, and borrowed for our super quick shoot from Worth New York.
Black tank and black pants are mine, also Worth New York. Put them on, take them off, go to bed, wake up, and put them on again, every single day this week, no kidding.
Never really sure where we’re going to be, city, country, home, office; simply trying to keep it all going with summer happening all over. Endless kids, friends, dogs…
Cooking and feeding, and zipping up long dresses to get out the door and to the next place we’re going.
Colleague is on the road too, she’s working remotely from car and field.
It’s a little frenetic, yet we can style you for your busy days too.
Sometimes you find yourself underdressed, overdressed, or maybe even weirdly dressed.
Yesterday, one of those days. Ditched the country house and country office, way too hot, and ditched the too tight white jeans. Slipped on black leather in the middle of July, and a tank, with nothing else. Totally cool.
We’re headed into a hot weekend again so our style is sure to be a little off, just how we like it.
Last night’s look for dinner out was a glamorous long skirt paired with a simple white bandeau. Would have probably preferred a long-sleeved white cotton men’s shirt, simply ran out the door a little too soon.
Styled this same skirt for two dear clients with the matching peplum top as shown below for summer wedding ensembles, one here local and one in Maine. They will look and feel great, so happy.
Separates are the best as they offer limitless dressing opportunities, off style or not. You get to take something that might be a little precious and wear it out on a weeknight, just because.
Photos not our best, we were having fun celebrating.
Holiday weekend was a mix-up of white denim, blue cashmere, blue hydrangea, blueberry pie, and real white whipped cream. Oh, and simple barbecue served on blue and white dinnerware, with a blue tin charger.
Half the day with a little clean-up detail, and half the day in the office prepping fall 16: we’re going to Saratoga Springs NY in August, woot woot, with this beyond blue leather dress:
If you’ve planned well, perhaps even with a stylist, hopefully there’s no wardrobe panic on what to wear during upcoming holiday weekend festivities. A good closet is a good thing, and stocking it up front saves time and energy.
We’re taking some time off to celebrate with family and friends, might check in might not, and then next week Tuesday we’re all about look what’s coming: season-less knits, luxurious leather, off the shoulder and more.
Snapped these looks, just a few from all that’s new, while in NYC a week or so ago, looking forward to planning ahead for fall winter 16.
Holiday weekend approaching fast so pull out the stops: anything in your closet that’s red white or blue is fair game. Once the 4th of July hits it’s like summer’s on and slipping.
Dress shown here was one of many seventeen year old daughter ordered for about five proms she attended this season. A little too big for her and a little too late to return simply kept it and styled it for runaround daytime with pulled back hair and Birkenstocks. Any other shoe would definitely be trying too hard.
Happy and safe upcoming 4th everyone.
Every day dress and pull out your red white and blue. xoxo
Closing in on 4th of July weekend and we’ve been in the office mixing it up at work:
pairing a striped shirt with a striped pleated shirt.
tying said shirt at the waist, who cares, we’re in the creative field.
carrying two bags, one small, one tote.
wearing chic sandals to attorney meetings, again, who cares, creative field.
kind of messy hair, summertime, almost 4th of July weekend.
We’re working on adding ‘work hard have fun stylists’ to our New York state team and beyond and sharing with clients how to mix up their wardrobes. You don’t need a ton of stuff, simply some good stuff and to mix it up.
If I could, I’d grant every woman in my life a taffeta ball skirt. There are times you just need to break it out and wear with full on confidence.
To celebrate twenty-five years of Worth New York in where else, NYC, wore the commemorative scarf tied as a halter, black skirt from last winter which is being brought back for fall 16, new Gucci red suede horsebit sandals and a small cross body Saint Laurent wallet as bag.
While we could all get by with eating some really great chicken every night (kind of like wearing a chic column of black), sometimes you’ve just gotta mix it up.
Some clients are all about stripes, some clients say no way. And pleats? Please…that takes chops. And don’t believe anything about never wearing horizontal stripes, we all love a good striped tee.
Here we are, stripes and pleats. Both pieces from spring 16: so wanted to dress a good client in this combo. Couldn’t get her to jump, so jumped in myself. Wore this outfit when Wendy Selig-Prieb was in town for What She’s Made Of at Albright-Knox Art Gallery, felt good. For us it’s all about feeling good in your clothes, and that’s what we strive for. That little extra boost.
Most important point: Wendy was way amazing, her words, ‘Dress up. Show up. Don’t give up.’ She spoke to an oversold crowd about doing what might be scary, and sometimes making mistakes, but in getting right up again and back in the game. She wanted us all to be remembered for how we make others feel, maybe not our name or what we do or where we are but how we make others feel, how to lift them up.
So, not rocket science, yet we like to help women feel good in what they wear, every day.
When we’re not cooking for the gang you’ll find us in suite #101, getting women comfortable with both stripes and pleats, and maybe even both together.
