Do you know how it is when you purposely check out? I’ve checked out strong. I’ve been at home cleaning, gardening, organizing, and editing. I think about this space and want to check in, and then that day turns into the next, and the day after that, that day turns into the next, and now here we are on the last day of June, which is one of my favorite months of the year, so here we are.
It feels good to have your hands on the pulse of your home. I can get lost in it. Lost in the pantry’s contents, the drawers needing emptying and restocking, and the garden beds needing a clean edge.
I get lost in the rhythm of a large family: the three daily meals and the continuous cycle of clean and dry clothes. The world keeps spinning.
My youngest daughter Mary recently sent me this link to a post I wrote years ago, and she reminded me that she loves looking at my blog, so here I am; hello, how are you.
Anyway, I hope you are all well and off to the start of a lovely and memorable summer season.
All photos are iPhone, and all were shot during June 2023. Please notice Peyton’s blanket; that is her mom’s from 33 years ago. Save the good things. Also, the cow needlepoint pillow I handstitched when I had babies and had no business doing needlework, yet I craved the satisfaction of each stitch and the knowledge that it would not come undone. Save your good things, and find small ways to savor each day, even among the chaos.
