meet michelle

Tuesday afternoon after a long weekend and it’s absolutely double Monday. With Friday and yesterday off, and it was a gorgeous weekend with all six kids and friends in ski town, we’re playing catch-up like mad.

In fact, it’s been a little mad for a while, where do these days/months/years go?

Momma always says just when you think you can’t handle one more thing, things get better. Momma’s right. 🙂

Meet Michelle; she’s the partner I’ve written about, and she’s beyond. We get each other, and she brings great energy and balance to our growing team. In fact, you can read her styling story on her personal page, www.worthnewyork.com/michelle-capizzi. Should you not want to click I’ve copied and pasted below:

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I am an artist. Styling is another way for me to express my creativity. Life can be complicated but dressing should be easy and fun. I am all about women feeling good with themselves inside and out. We all change over the years. I love to embrace our individual forms and turn each of my clients into a piece of art. Supporting women to succeed in whatever they are passionate about it keeps me going!

simple with a splash of fun. I am a pretty casual girl. Being a mom of three active young men, I find myself in many modes everyday. Plus I live in Western New York and our weather is unpredictable. When I get dressed in the am who knows what the day will throw at me. A good fitting pant and simple top can take me anywhere. Many days you’ll find in my bag a few pairs of shoes, all day on the move gotta keep it going! With that simple platform I can add anything to it, a jacket to dress it up or a scarf for fun. And if I’m in a super rush a solid dress always works. Sometimes we over think dressing. I keep my closet simple. Then I have more time for FUN!

I’m busy with my family. As i mentioned I have three young men, Massimo, Benjamin and Sammy. My husband, Sam and I love to cook and enjoy wine. At the end of the day you can usually find me cooking. Dinner and family together first! I feel blessed to live in Western New York and love to give back as a volunteer. Many days you will find me out and about working on various events. When I have a little time for myself I practice yoga a few days a week. But in the winter I have been known to escape skiing as much as possible. Evenings usually find me painting in my studio. Life is good but always busy so i keep my dress simple. Why complicate the good stuff, right!?
This Friday October 16th to next week Thursday October 22nd we’ll be styling women in our new space in downtown Buffalo, 651 Delaware Ave. To see us in action or for your own private one hour appointment, you can now book with us online at www.worthnewyork.com/rebecca-collins, for me, or www.worthnewyork.com/michelle-capizzi, for Michelle. Simply click on the BOOK APPOINTMENT box when you get to our page. We love building wardrobes together and with the women in our lives.

running on empty

IMG_1888

Stuff’s going on, as it always will. Late to the blog, photo shown here taken Saturday in Toronto, ON, we’ve been running on empty.

To keep on keeping on we’re down to the basics: make the bed, protein for breakfast, walk the dogs, make some dinner, enjoy  a glass of wine, spend time with those you love.

Every day dress, running on empty, filling up the tank. xo

Black turtleneck, black pants, (even a size up), and black boots can get you through, or pick your neutral. Always have a good scarf or wrap on hand.

making moves

beckie collins 3

First day of October and all around we’re making moves. Sometimes slow, and always more involved and taking longer than you expect, oh, well.

Second daughter signed her lease on a mid-town apartment (she’s moving out) and us here (we’re moving in) at every day dress have officially signed down-town at The Plaza Suites. Women power, for sure, but never underestimate or fail to value those men behind us, never ever.

We have a phone! and a receptionist! conference space! one underground parking space! windows!, a professional office suite #101 with our name on the door…a room of our own.

We’ve done a photo-shoot with a local woman photographer, thank you Missy Kennedy Photography, and need to update all social media, yikes.

It all takes time, going in a forward direction, making moves, all around.

Every day dress women. Let’s always be part of making good things happen.

Fall Winter Trunk Show happening Friday October 16th – Thursday, October 22nd.

ps. Every woman should own this shirt, in all colors, makes daily dressing easier. You can even sleep in it and get out of bed in the morning looking pretty great. Black | White | Cream. Machine wash and dry, sweet.

have we done this yet?

Okay, so after a summer of non-stop travel and constant house-hopping, last weekend had to go down-lo and put all tech stuff away. It was rejuvenating, and wonderful, and totally needed. Connected? I was losing touch, for sure.

Saw and bought these lawn chairs at the start of the season, last Friday night and Sunday late afternoon was the first time this body here met up with them, and it’s just about October. Read The New York Times SundayReview, and oddly enough there was an article ‘Stop Googling. Let’s Talk’, by Sherry Turkle. Very good reading, and on-point message.

While recently in Oregon tasting all the great Pinot Noir and more of the Willamette Valley husband actually had to pause and say, and this is a cliché but still, ‘stop and smell the roses’.

So, now, while still getting the work done, we’re also doing what matters: putting the phone away, and the laptop, and the constant connectivity. See you in a little, we’re going out to walk the dogs.

Every day dress, just about October, have we done this yet?

jeans and a tee

IMG_1840 (1)

We’ve been working on moving, into new official office space!, and with that we’ve been slow to the blog and pretty much dressed daily in jeans and a tee. Today we moved rolling racks, chairs, grids, and a super-size mirror. Tomorrow it’s the glass-topped desks, a printer and the router, exciting times.

Jeans and a tee are great, and wore that combination out last Saturday night. Did the tee in leather, nice upgrade, and wore some new boots to boot.

IMG_1842

Real clothes are calling our name, a deep grey wool cashmere jacket, a black chiffon sleeve v neck pullover, and a black fringe chiffon slim skirt for starters. Until Thursday, October 1st, when we’re all moved in and official, jeans and a tee it will be.

Every day dress, stay tuned.

add leather and boots

IMG_1802

With gorgeous weather all around and heading into the weekend, we’ll be adding a leather jacket or two and some new boots to our downtime looks.

Last night took the white knit dress that’s been a go-to since last December and paired it with matte grey leather and black suede ankle boots. Outfit felt right, and that’s a good feeling.

IMG_1817

Third day hair was just fine, we’ve been busy.

Every day dress, add leather and boots, good to go.

feed and dress

IMG_1783

First day of fall twenty fifteen and we’re focusing on what we like: feeding those we love and building wardrobes with the women in our lives.

Served up simple pork tenderloin with a rosemary, garlic, olive oil, kosher salt and pepper marinade, roasted butternut squash, again olive oil, kosher salt and pepper both baked off in a 400 degree oven. Blanched haricots vets, then quickly sautéed in butter is love, and dinner done.

As a stylist you’re always thinking of ways to make things better, and if I did it again I’d put the green beans in the middle of the pork and squash, probably a more interesting color contrast.

Fall Winter Resort Trunk Show prep up and running and for the site work dressed in blue jeans, again, a black turtleneck tank, floral cardigan sweater, and new block heel Mary Jane style shoes. Added a vintage Hermès bag, and good to go all day long.

IMG_1780

Some simple style notes: sleeveless turtleneck tank under a cardigan keeps you covered and cool. Floral cardigan looks fresh, it’s a few seasons ago, especially paired with the fancy Dolce & Gabbana shoe. Pulled out the vintage bag, was having a moment for the warm tones, especially now that the mums are in, thanks mom and Booie. 🙂

Happy first day of Fall all. Every day dress.

every day monday

IMG_1727

Today being Monday and after being out-of-pocket since last Tuesday did the usual: white shirt, blue jeans, hair back. It was a work day, and we were busy. Even the food was the usual, a big bowl of lettuce, some chicken you don’t see, a hunk of cheese with a glass of wine, and a nice apple crisp to finish things off.

For the runaround brought back the rock studs and the Celine luggage tote, it’s fun to take things out and put them back in rotation. Building a wardrobe takes time and expense, why not wear the good old stuff on an every day Monday. Big news: signed the lease on the new office space today. In lieu of a jacket simply buttoned up the blouse and turned up the collar of the white wash and dry easy shirt.

Every day dress, every day Monday. Wishing everyone a great week ahead.

keep it moving

Slipped this little band on the pinkie finger while packing to catch up with the husband in Portland OR.

He went out last week to get to know the Willamette Valley and to taste the Pinot Noir. Need to restock the cellar, now four of our adult children and those in their lives enjoy our wine as well. Second daughter made the trip out with him, she’s developing her appreciation through reading and travel. She and I bookended this trip, she flew back and I flew in, two high school students keep us all centered back home.

Tomorrow Saturday husband and I will celebrate twenty-eight years of marriage, the little emerald and diamond jewel was a gift on our first anniversary. We were heavily pregnant and that band slipped easily on the ring finger.

Now it’s moved on, down the line, to the next finger on the hand. These hands have grown wider while holding children, baking bread, planting gardens.

Three decades brings challenges and things to work out. The love simply gets deeper, and more complex, like the lines on our skin. He likes to travel, so travel I do. Tell him I’ll follow him anywhere.

IMG_4851

Let’s keep it moving, dear husband, happy anniversary to us. Love you.

Wishing everyone a good Friday and wonderful weekend. Photos shown from the iPhone while in Dayton OR.

a clear space

IMG_1552

After a dozen or so years of working from a home office and dressing women in our dining room, we’re making moves on securing a clear space.

A space with a receptionist, and with a lease agreement, in a suite of offices with other professionals, on a main avenue in downtown Buffalo.

Scary, and perhaps risky? Of course. Have really never known any new thing not to be. The upside is good though– a designated work space to create in and grow.

Knowing this move is close on the horizon has made where we’re at now a little more sacred. It’s been great working from home all these years with young children and young dogs about, we’re just all going through some changes and change entails movement, and cleaning. Honestly we’ve been cleaning every crevice, the drawers and under beds and even hosing down gutters while standing on high ladders. Home maintenance is huge, and moving office space is huge too.

Simply looking for a little clear space, both at home and professionally, all good things.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday, peace.
