While there’s still some snow hanging around we’re ready for the outdoors. Added a little height to the spring planters by sticking in some pussy willow branches. Puts me in a good mood just seeing spring even from inside. Really want to repaint the pots, that will have to wait.
Here’s how the desk looks during trunk show week:
All flower material from local grocer, thank you Wegmans.
For lunch meeting Tuesday wore new white jeans, white tee, and then dressed it up with yet another quilted jacket. This one from a client that ordered it way back in November and then decided it just wasn’t perfect for her, okay by me, client returns are often the perks of this work.
White jeans and white tees are best fresh, especially if you’re wearing them out to lunch, and meeting someone new for the first time.
Yeah, the accessories are not the usual, pink and green with the watchband and the bag, and the texture play has a lot going on too, quilted faux leather and a patchwork scarf. Same scarf from the chilly spring days post, and bag and boots are the same as well. Kind of into uniform dressing at times, and when we get something new we usually wear it a lot.
Stepping out a bit from the monotone outfit comfort zone.
Every day dress, a little more quilt. Summer Trunk opening tomorrow, let the fun begin.
After a full day on the road had a dinner date with husband and oldest son and had to be in and out the door in literally five minutes flat. Stripped off the white jeans and the quilted jacket, threw those on the floor, and shimmied into a LBD. Yes, at times a dress is best.
Added a small Lady Dior handbag, this was a dinner date after all, and again, removed most of the jewelry.
Elaine, if you’re reading, lunch yesterday was delightful, thank you.
We’re really on the fly now as Summer 2015 Trunk Show opens Friday…
Good morning beauties: today we’re in upstate at the charming Saratoga Arms, they bake their chocolate chip cookies with Saratoga Potato Chips in them, LOVE that. 🙂 (Pictures here snapped in Boston MA two weeks ago).
As April showers are said to bring May flowers we are all still in for some chilly spring days. One wardrobe piece I can’t seem to get enough of is the Herno jacket: wore it here for the five-hour drive, wore it in Boston a few weeks ago, and will be wearing it again today.
It’s lightweight, so comfortable and can be dressed up or down. Admittedly it seems we’re in our ‘casual mode’, yet as the weather gets better undoubtedly so does the wardrobe. Dress up days are on their way.
Again, wore the base layer, the super white sweater, longer than the jacket and then tied in a navy and white scarf. Still in black boots, those seem to be ageless, and brightened it up with the classic Alma bag.
Every day dress, let’s enjoy these chilly spring days.
Spent most of Saturday spring cleaning the garage wearing jeans and a tank. When it came time for casual dinner out with friends simply hopped in the shower and put on more of the same, nothing else felt quite right, one of those days. Dressed it up with a jacket with sequins and small black clutch. Took all the jewelry off with the exception of a simple wedding band, and out we went. Easy, and it got me out the door.
Back to real work Monday, on the road to Saratoga Springs. Wishing everyone a great week.
Simple style notes: when wearing a shorter jacket it’s okay and good to have your base layer longer than your jacket. Fun too to take serious dress up pieces and wear them out in a more casual way. When you’ve got all that shine going on you don’t really need much else.
We all know the shape of our shoe can decide our mood and feel: how about those Birkenstocks?
For day-long work switched between the high-heeled sandal and the now current throwback. Wore some paisley pants, paisley is a strong spring/summer trend, and a french blue cotton shirt with shocker, black cardigan. Black and blue? keep it going…
Erika and team, thank you for a great day. Summer 2015 Preview meeting beyond exceptional.
TGIF and have a great weekend everyone.
(Did it! Five posts, each weekday, taking the weekend off!). Sorry, no manicure or pedicure, simply clear coat, we’ve been busy. 🙂
Every day dress, the shape of your shoe, what’s your preference?
Aileen, this one’s for you: sun, beach, privacy, good food, nice linens, courteous staff; give yourself some Point Grace time.
Non-stop flight from Boston MA into Turks and Caicos, Gary will pick you up, just like he did for us last time we visited, and then you’ll be in the good hands of Mary, same concierge from before too.
If you like low-key laid back luxury, you’re covered. No sign-in for a chaise or counting of towels, and water abounds without $5+ bottle fees. One bar by the pool, you can get a massage in an open air treatment room seaside, and enjoy some great Pinot Noir at Grace’s Cottage come dinnertime.
Town is a close walk to stock your kitchen, or you can simply hop on one of the bikes to get some quick supplies, no need to sign those out either.
As for town there’s a good market so you can cook in, and a delightful French bistro Le Bouchon we had both lunch and dinner at.
Two snorkeling trips, arranged by Mary and company and they had nice towels waiting for us to take along too.
The airport has had a great upgrade, be sure to visit the second floor where you can enjoy one more cocktail and watch the jets come in and out before bidding good-by, until next time. Travel light, you don’t need much.
Yesterday’s quick trip to market yielded goods for last night’s dinner and some early green goodness for the planters. Love a one-stop shop.
Days feel fast, always do when back from vacation and there’s work stuff to be done. To keep calm decided to just simply chop some parsley: when there’s dinner on the table, fresh flowers somewhere and the dogs have been walked, life moves on in a good way.
No recipes here, or fancy garden schemes, simply enjoying the bounty.
We’ll be on the road again next week Monday and Tuesday, Saratoga Springs, every day dress. Happy Wednesday everyone. xoxo
Oh, to be in an industry where you can spend your day in floral pants and open toe studded sandals, love it.
For creative work wear on this Tuesday, wearing black wash and dry pocket shirt, same one that was worn Saturday night out while in Boston at the Liberty Hotel, and those on trend pants with my new shoes. When something feels right, we say do it or wear it again. Found out the shirt was great in the dryer by mistake, while traveling threw the entire dark load in and there it was, came out perfectly. Normally machine wash on cold and hang to dry, this one can take the heat.
As for those floral pants? They’re all over the spring fashion scene, to keep them from looking too sweet paired them with black even though there’s not a spot of black in the pattern. Always encourage clients to do navy and black.
In the office, prepping for summer trunk shows and searching for another woman or a few who also want to wear and rep some creative work wear. Every day dress, creative work wear in Upstate New York.
