Holiday weekend approaching fast so pull out the stops: anything in your closet that’s red white or blue is fair game. Once the 4th of July hits it’s like summer’s on and slipping.
Dress shown here was one of many seventeen year old daughter ordered for about five proms she attended this season. A little too big for her and a little too late to return simply kept it and styled it for runaround daytime with pulled back hair and Birkenstocks. Any other shoe would definitely be trying too hard.
Happy and safe upcoming 4th everyone.
Every day dress and pull out your red white and blue. xoxo
Closing in on 4th of July weekend and we’ve been in the office mixing it up at work:
pairing a striped shirt with a striped pleated shirt.
tying said shirt at the waist, who cares, we’re in the creative field.
carrying two bags, one small, one tote.
wearing chic sandals to attorney meetings, again, who cares, creative field.
kind of messy hair, summertime, almost 4th of July weekend.
We’re working on adding ‘work hard have fun stylists’ to our New York state team and beyond and sharing with clients how to mix up their wardrobes. You don’t need a ton of stuff, simply some good stuff and to mix it up.
If I could, I’d grant every woman in my life a taffeta ball skirt. There are times you just need to break it out and wear with full on confidence.
To celebrate twenty-five years of Worth New York in where else, NYC, wore the commemorative scarf tied as a halter, black skirt from last winter which is being brought back for fall 16, new Gucci red suede horsebit sandals and a small cross body Saint Laurent wallet as bag.
While we could all get by with eating some really great chicken every night (kind of like wearing a chic column of black), sometimes you’ve just gotta mix it up.
Some clients are all about stripes, some clients say no way. And pleats? Please…that takes chops. And don’t believe anything about never wearing horizontal stripes, we all love a good striped tee.
Here we are, stripes and pleats. Both pieces from spring 16: so wanted to dress a good client in this combo. Couldn’t get her to jump, so jumped in myself. Wore this outfit when Wendy Selig-Prieb was in town for What She’s Made Of at Albright-Knox Art Gallery, felt good. For us it’s all about feeling good in your clothes, and that’s what we strive for. That little extra boost.
Most important point: Wendy was way amazing, her words, ‘Dress up. Show up. Don’t give up.’ She spoke to an oversold crowd about doing what might be scary, and sometimes making mistakes, but in getting right up again and back in the game. She wanted us all to be remembered for how we make others feel, maybe not our name or what we do or where we are but how we make others feel, how to lift them up.
So, not rocket science, yet we like to help women feel good in what they wear, every day.
When we’re not cooking for the gang you’ll find us in suite #101, getting women comfortable with both stripes and pleats, and maybe even both together.
We’ve been on the road and in the office and wow, it’s suddenly summer. We’ve gotta breath, we’re actually prepping Fall 2016 and have yet to have the first swim, or the first campfire.
Styled oldest daughter in floral on floral last weekend for dear friend’s law school commencement, she’ll wear it all again this holiday weekend while on the Jersey shore.
Styled myself in same dress same place as last year yet added some new kind of retro kind of chic Gucci sandals.
For those following along on the blog Wednesday night’s event with Wendy Selig-Prieb to help WNY Women’s Foundation at Albright-Knox Art Gallery, stunning success, two standing ovations, and over-sold. Thank you Wendy, proper post coming soon once the professional photos hit the email feed.
We’ve been a little on the down-low the last week, event prep takes a lot out of us and a little event let-down always slides in. Day of event? No wine at lunch. Day after event? Yes, wine at lunch, and then again at dinner. 🙂
For dinner out after wine at lunch wore new piece from Summer 16, a long jacket, and once again styled as a dress. It can all be blur. Love it when you can mix and match separates and get out the dressed well and quick. Black always makes it easy when you’re time stressed, promise, it was color and pattern for the big event.
Today it’s Friday, TGIF, and I’ve missed blogging, can’t do it all, all the time. Wine at lunch? Yes, most definitely sometimes. 🙂
Have a great weekend all. xoxo
ps. We’re back in the office full tilt until we head to NYC mid-June. Working to help women feel good in their clothes one outfit, one piece, one day at time.
For prep work wore what I had, leather culottes, husbands shirt, and oblong scarf tied at the neck, kind of flowing out back. Love mixing navy and black, and the skinny kind of scarf around the neck is a bit of trend.
If you’re in BUF and you want to join the fun, it will be the place to be, call Catherine at 716-887-2616 tomorrow between 9 am and noon and she might just get you in. 🙂
We’ve worked all over town and deliberately and consciously moving into upstate, love that 90, good things take time.
Enjoying every little second of pansy time, and waiting for peonies.
Two new things we’ve added to the rotation and have yet to wear, we’ve been working!, YSL star wallet (picked that out myself) on a chain and Tangerine Christian Louboutin Nail Colour, gifted by oldest daughter.
Thinking the star thing is a little young yet honestly we don’t care. Orange or Tangerine nail color is always spot on for spring/summer, can’t wait to DIY and apply, thank you Linnie. xoxo
Stopped in at husband’s office today and he said, ‘wow, you look like you’re working’. 🙂
Yes, and that’s a good thing. Even better when you get to wear full on denim and bronze footwear. 🙂 Full disclosure, we were doing inventory, and packing, and shipping out to multiple states.
Still at it, and posting this during a quick little break.
Can’t help myself with the emojis, working with beautiful women and beautiful clothing is a very good gig.
We love to every day dress. Hump day everyone! xoxo
ps. Even with denim wear your good lingerie, what are we all saving it for? Thank you Lace & Day.
love that in my professional life I get to wear things like denim, and a suede shirt, and suede sandals, thank you Worth New York.
thinking that while we love deeply things that are dark, like coffee, and mostly black clothes, red wine, and chocolate, that it’s a good idea to always add color, something maybe like this poppy suede shirt. 🙂
Met with a client last week in suite 101, that’s what partner and I decided today to call our work space proper moving forward, and was hoping she would add some color to her wardrobe. She lit up when she put on a jacket in canary yellow, we settled of course on navy, for the time being. 🙂
Every day dress, let’s all add a little color. xoxo
And, to confuse it again, loving this white and green in the garden, oh, joy.
