white shirt blue jeans

[easyrotator]erc_61_1350079829[/easyrotator]

Perfection. Classic clothing combinations work for women and men. Notice how the neutral suede shoes dress the whole thing up a bit? New iPhone not bad, either. In a family of eight he was the holdout. Welcome to apple, husband. Love how he left the socks at home.

Happy weekend everyone. Hope you all are in the white shirt blue jeans frame of mind.

Every day dress. xoxo

solution

[easyrotator]erc_42_1349986716[/easyrotator]

Yes, working from a home office has many advantages. It’s also easy though, and guilty here at times, to fall into the ‘exercise clothes’ habit. Here’s a solution for all busy women:

Grey Stretch Tweed Ponte Dress. The fit, finish, and professionalism of any office outfit. Skip the boots and add your heels. The ease and comfort of favorite workout clothes.

We can do better than running around town in exercise clothes. Exercise clothes are for, well, exercise. Exercise is great but keep the clothes for the gym.

This is an every day dress. Put it on this morning for running to Kinko’s FedEx for print work, the grocery for dinner food, back to the office for phone calls. Took it off for half an hour workout, put it back on for more work and to cook dinner, and it will see me through tonight’s two hours of cocktails and conversation in support of women.

Fabric is genius: 34% Wool 20% Acrylic 18% Silk 13% Cotton 12% Polyamide 3% Elastane | Unlined | Slim Fit | size 0 – 16.

Black back is instantly slimming. Super solution.

fashionably late

[easyrotator]erc_69_1349922016[/easyrotator]

Is there such a thing? Or is arriving just as good? Came late to this bag party…Phoebe, love you, last time was paddington, now, luggage tote.

Pictured here, Céline, luggage tote. Tricolor, Winter 2012. Could not resist. This bag has been on the arm of many fashionable women for quite some time and I wanted in. When you live in a place like Buffalo NY the tricky thing is is that you have to get to a big urban city- no online ordering for this precious piece.

a little etro

[easyrotator]erc_60_1349824620[/easyrotator]

Blame it on the airlines? London Heathrow was the scene- a small place called Harrod’s. Always wanted some Etro. Since first flight out was cancelled and had to be rerouted through a new airport after an unplanned overnight stay, thank you Delta, a little shopping seemed to ease the pain.

Here is the takeaway: beautiful silk blouse, love it. Worn with belt purchased last year at WNY Women’s Foundation Fall in Fashion luncheon. There was some philanthropy…

After dressing to visit friends for chili dinner husband said, ‘nice shirt, where did you get it?’ Airport, baby, airport.

Wishing you all safe uncomplicated travels and happy airport shopping. Thanks, everyone,  every day dress has over 11,300 site visits.

leather-effect rubberised skirt

[easyrotator]erc_14_1349552539[/easyrotator]

Leather, huge trend for Fall 2012. While the leather leg is a great and popular choice here is one way to work it feminine and without a super huge investment:

Dear friend, sometimes fitness partner, oftentimes co-chef- Amy goes current and wears a beautiful faux leather skirt with a fitted white tee. Partnered with a luxury bag and boots she stopped traffic while day tripping in Tuscany. When wearing a skirt with movement keep the top fitted like she does so well here. Also love the simplicity of her hair- pulled back ponytails another big trend. She kept it looking finished by wrapping a strand around the elastic and securing with bobby pins. To check out this great skirt from Zara visit www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/home/us/en.

How does she get that amazing figure? Works out hard and eats clean every three hours, most every day. This mom of four owns and manages Catalyst gyms with her husband in upstate New York. For more on their workout spaces visit www.catalystfitnessbuffalo.com.

another every day dress

[easyrotator]erc_84_1349459445[/easyrotator]

To get the most mileage out of your clothes, think about them in different ways. Dress shown here was bought eight years ago for younger sister’s absolutely gorgeous wedding in Sarteano. Back then wore it with far fewer curves and dressed up with beautiful brown suede pumps for the late afternoon ceremony. This Italy trip, dress still fits, switched it up and wore it with a pair of black tough love boots.

Event clothes don’t have to be only event clothes. It’s fun to wear good fancy stuff mixed up with daytime basics.

As for image quality? Twenty-two year old second son stopped by to look at travel photos and asked ‘why are so many of them were blurry and out of focus?’ First reason- didn’t have twelve-year-old fourth daughter favorite photographer with us. Second reason, since it’s Friday and I am now back at my desk, here you go- we were all a bit drunk with wine, life, and love…not in that order.

Have a great weekend.

hair care for travel

[easyrotator]erc_63_1349149744[/easyrotator]

Booked a keratin treatment three days before traveling overseas. Had to miss a scheduled workout as you can’t get your hair wet or put it back in a ponytail for three days after to let the thing ‘set’. Kind of nice to have a hall pass for the workout. Don’t usually go for this sort of thing as the whole hair thing is kind of low key.

Best thing about sitting in a chair for two hours? You won’t really need to think about your hair while traveling. No need to pack adapters or tools. Simply use the dryer supplied and a good brush. The keratin adds protein and creates smoothness. Midway through your trip check yourself into a local salon, try to speak the language or use your iPad for a visual, and get a blowout. Keep things easy. Travel partners don’t really want to wait around while you take time for hair and all that stuff takes up a lot of room in your luggage. Ask your stylist what would be best for you for super low maintenance and sign yourself up before your next trip. Make sure your color will go the distance, too.

what to pack for tuscany

[easyrotator]erc_5_1349284202[/easyrotator]

After three nights in rome, one week in tuscany, and two nights in florence here is my take on what to pack during the months of september or october:

For the dark looks- one pair of black jeans, one brown suede jacket, one long black dress, one short navy silk dress, three black tanks, one pair black yoga pants, one pair black running or exercise pants, one long sleeved grey tee, one cropped black lightweight cardigan, one grey hooded sweatshirt, two lightweight v-neck long sleeved tees, one black, one brown, one black bikini with matching cover-up/dress, one pair Wolford black tights, one pair Wolford socks, one pair black athletic socks.

For the colored looks- two Roberto Cavalli dresses, one patterned sleeveless silk shell, one patterned long-sleeved silk blouse, one neutral silk dress, one silver rain-treated anorak, one pair of white shorts, one printed bikini for dear friend that forgot hers.

Must express complete adoration for the Roberto Cavalli dresses. Can’t say enough about the versatility of these two pieces. Have worn them often on many different trips and they continue to look, feel, and travel great. Both have seen northern california several times and the short-sleeved one was worn as a swimsuit cover-up and as dress on our Spring 2012 trip to turks & caicos. They never wrinkle and can handle with grace a five-pound vacation swing thanks to the stretch in the fabric content. They can be easily dressed up or down. Great investment. Yes, they might have cost a bit up front but they make getting dressed super quick and easy. Another bonus? I wash them myself in a front-load machine on cold and hang to dry. Unbelievable.

Accessories- Two soft unstructured bags that can be folded flat in dust bags and placed in luggage, one black, one neutral, one cashmere wrap, one oblong printed scarf, sunglasses, reading glasses, two small clutch bags, one black, one gold, for when you want to feel fancy or not carry a huge bag.

Shoes- Three pair black boots, one pair flats, one pair flat sandals, one pair chic, slim, packable sneakers. Before final packing took the black ones out pictured in photo and upgraded them to some pretty cool Stella McCartney ones, more on those later…

Just as important, here’s what not to pack:

Three pairs of jeans, you really only need one. Five sweaters, you only need one or at most two. High-heeled sandals, absolutely not, lugged those things all over and they never came out of their dust bag. Nine dresses, you only need six. That’s about twelve extra pounds of clothing that you just don’t need. Combine that with the ten pounds of the extra body weight I am always trying to lose and that’s a lot of poundage you can leave home. 🙂

Now for the good part- quite sure the look was right- from boarding to departure not once was I spoken to in English. Pretty much had to pretend I knew what they were all talking about. Every day dress.

florence to rome

[easyrotator]erc_19_1349118332[/easyrotator]

Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the river, sightseeing, champagne lunch, again outdoors, shopping, cab, train and cab again. It’s a good thing when your clothes work and play as hard as you do. Wore the same dress as from buffalo to JFK, this time changed the boots, bag, and had to get the hair up. Dress and boots were great as the day involved TONS of bag schlepping. Gym visit not needed when walking all day and handling luggage. When packing for your trip to Italy it’s a good idea to test drive your luggage quantity. Make sure you can handle the whole lot yourself up and down multiple flights of stairs. Also try hauling your bag(s) overhead- remember you need to load those bags in the overhead train compartments pretty much all by yourself.

Dear friend pictured here also wearing Worth New York. She manages multiple gyms and kids when home in buffalo and has like five minutes when she shops with me at one of my trunk shows. Picked out this great leather piece for her during the fall show. She wears it with her Worth New York Flannel White Lucy Jean and again, flat boots made for walking. In a city known for its’ leather goods, she rocked her leather look and received many many compliments.

It’s been quite a week and a half. First time at a desk since last week Wednesday, (still in rome), as today’s flight to JFK was cancelled. Husband’s flight will get him home to the states this evening. Me, rerouted tomorrow through London. Like photo uploading, can’t rush or predict the airlines. Every day dress to London, tomorrow.

Miss my girls. xoxo
